Harborfields High School
Principal's Corner - From Dr. Dave Bennardo
Food for Thought –
“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”
~ John Wooden
I want to wish all of the moms in our community a very Happy Mother's Day. Please know how much we appreciate the tremendous commitment required to be a parent in our modern society. Our students are incredibly fortunate to have such loving and nurturing moms supporting their daily efforts.
We are proud to report that Harborfields High School was awarded a gold medal in the U.S. News and World Reports Best High Schools competition. This prestigious contest, which evaluates schools based upon college readiness, Advanced Placement participation, and state proficiency standards, found Harborfields to be among the finest educational institutions in the country. Our performance earned a 3rd place ranking in Suffolk County, a top ten designation on Long Island, and a 215th place score of the 22,000 schools in the nation. This success is a testament to the outstanding teachers, dedicated students, and supportive parents that comprise our learning family. It is inspiring to note that the ranking places Harborfields among top ten schools on Long Island and the elite three in Suffolk County. At a time when public education is enduring unprecedented attacks, it is nice to know that the Harborfields School District continues to shine.
We have received wonderful news that Harborfields High School had 14 award winners in the American Association of Teachers of French National French Contest! These students ranked in the top ten in Suffolk County and several ranked in the top ten in the nation. This resounding success is a direct reflection of the talent and dedication that Ms. Maria D'Amore and her students give to second language study.
