A Gold Medal for Harborfields

The Harborfields Central School District is proud to report that Harborfields High School has been awarded a gold medal in the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools competition.  
            
This prestigious contest evaluates schools based upon college readiness, participation in Advanced Placement courses, and state proficiency standards. Based on these criteria, Harborfields has been recognized as being among the finest educational institutions in the country.  
            
This recognition has earned Harborfields High School a third-place ranking in Suffolk County, an eleventh-place designation on Long Island, and a ranking of 215 out of the 22,000 high schools in the nation. Congratulations to all of the hard working staff and students of Harborfields High School.

Budget Vote Message

Dear Harborfields’ Community,

The Harborfields Central School District’s 2012-2013 budget passed by 77%.  This passing percentage is a record for Harborfields.  

I would like to thank the community for supporting the budget.  Your support further ensures the ‘Tradition of Excellence’ which is the foundation of our schools and community.

Since the 2012-2013 budget is the first one I presented to the community, in my role as superintendent, it is with much appreciation that I thank everyone who participated in this year’s budget process.

Young Artists Exhibit Showcases Students’ Work

Students of Harborfields High School were recently recognized during the 24th annual Young Artists Juried Photography & Fine Arts Exhibition awards ceremony and reception held at the Harborfields Public Library.
    
The artwork of 160 Harborfields art students in grades 9-12 was featured in a variety of media, including painting, computer art, mixed media, drawing, photography and sculpture.

Students Take Top Prize

Congratulations to seventh-grade students Medora Benson and Peggy Williamson, who were selected as the overall winners at the annual Oldfield Middle School seventh-grade science fair. The students’ project involving the oxidation of an apple was ranked the highest by judges overall from a pool of 107 projects. Well done!

Walk for a Wish

Members of the Harborfields community took part in the annual Walk for a Wish fundraiser on Saturday, April 21. The walk is a Harborfields event that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For the fifth consecutive year, participants of the event were invited to raise donations and walk around the track at Harborfields High School.
    
All of the donations collected for the walk will be used to grant the wish of Annette, a young Long Island resident who is suffering with a form of kidney cancer. The collected efforts of all involved will allow Annette and her family to take a Mediterranean cruise, something young Annette has always wanted to do.
